Body length from 10 to 14 cm. Intermittent light streaks pass against a dark background of the back and sides. The weight of the animal is on average 42.3 g [2] .
The striped mouse does not live long. In the wild, they do not survive at all after their first breeding season. In captivity they can live longer. The maximum age recorded in captivity is 4.8 years [2] .
They feed mainly on plant foods, mainly fruits, root crops, soft seeds. Sometimes they eat insects.
The female reaches puberty at the age of 168 days, the gestation period is approximately twenty five days, from 2 to 5 cubs in the litter [2] .
