Career

At the 1968 Olympic Games in Grenoble , he won the silver medal in which the first stage ran and finished second in second place, losing only to Norway’s Odd Martinsen , during the subsequent stages, Halvarsson’s team-mates retained second place and the Swedish team won the silver medal. In the remaining races of the Olympic tournament, he took the 5th place in the 15 km race, the 12th place in the 30 km race and the 7th place in the 50 km race.

At the 1970 World Championships in the High Tatras, he won a bronze medal in the relay race, the best result in personal races at the World Championships, 7th place in the 50 km race at the same 1970 Championship.
