Statistics Sweden ( Swedish Statistiska centralbyrån , SCB ) is the government agency responsible for collecting statistical information in Sweden. The first mention of Sweden’s national statistical information dates back to 1686 , when the Swedish church began to record the country's population. The predecessor of the statistics office, the statistics service ( Tabellverket ), was founded in 1749 . The modern name was obtained in 1858 .
