The National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic ( Kyrgyz. Kyrgyz Republicsyn Uluttuk Ilimder Akademiyasy ) is the highest scientific institution of Kyrgyzstan .

History

Kyrgyz Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences

On January 5, 1943, a decree of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR on the establishment of the Kyrgyz branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences (Kyrgyz phil. Academy of Sciences of the USSR) [1] was adopted .

The branch was headed by Academician K.I. Scriabin .

Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR

December 20, 1954 in the city of Frunze , on the basis of the Kyrgyz branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR (Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR) was formed [2] [3] .

The scientific stations of the Academy played a large role in the development of science:

  • Tien Shan Physics and Geography Station (founded in 1948) - geography, biology, soil science, etc.
  • Tien Shan Astronomical Observatory (founded in 1957) - astronomy, technology, etc.

In 1993, the Government of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan adopted a resolution (No. 386 dated August 18, 1993) on the transformation of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic into the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic (NAS KR), and giving it the status of a higher state scientific institution [4] .

In 2002, the Law on the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic was adopted.

In 2004, the republic celebrated the 50th anniversary of the NAS of the Kyrgyz Republic.

In 2010, additional elections were held at the NAS of the Kyrgyz Republic - 5 full members (academicians) and 11 corresponding members were elected.

In 2013, elections of the President of the NAS of the Kyrgyz Republic were organized, a new composition of the Presidium of the NAS of the Kyrgyz Republic was elected.

In 2014, the "Union of Scientists of the NAS of the Kyrgyz Republic" was established. The authorities of Kyrgyzstan discussed the liquidation of the Academy with the transfer of its functions to scientific organizations, ministries and universities [5] . Limited to a significant reduction in staff and the elimination of a number of units. By November 2016, the number of employees of the Academy decreased from 4,000 to 1,940 [5] . 9 out of 25 research institutes were abolished [5] . The administrative apparatus was also reduced - the positions of the four vice-presidents of the Academy were abolished [5] .

  • 49 corresponding members
  • 8 foreign members (1 full member, 7 corresponding members).

Structure

The supreme governing body of the NAS of the Kyrgyz Republic is the β€œGeneral Meeting of the NAS of the Kyrgyz Republic”, current issues are decided by the Presidium of the NAS of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Academy has 4 departments: FTMiGGN, KhTMBiSKHN, GiEN and the Southern Department, and several units:

  • Central Scientific Library
  • Ilim Publishing House, Izvestiya NAN KR Journal and Reports of the NAS KR
  • Technopark
  • The rest house "Academy of Sciences"
  • Children's recreation complex "Ilim"
  • Motor Transport Expeditionary Enterprise (ATEP)
