Biography

Born in the family of an engineer-employee of TsAGI and a teacher of mathematics.

He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (1963) and graduate school there (1966).

Student A.A.Desin . The first scientific work was devoted to the proof of an analogue of Morera's theorem for solutions of multidimensional Cauchy-Riemann systems .

From 1966 until the end of his life he worked at the Computing Center of the USSR Academy of Sciences (department of computational methods). Collaborated with A. A. Dorodnitsyn . Candidate of physico-mathematical sciences (1967) [1] , developed iterative methods for solving the Navier-Stokes and Oseen equations . The methods have been successfully applied to calculate some two-dimensional flows of a viscous incompressible fluid at low Reynolds numbers . In further works, already proposed for the three-dimensional case, a new iterative method for the Navier-Stokes equations with splitting of boundary conditions.

Doctor of physico-mathematical sciences (1982), topic of dissertation "Convolution equations on a finite interval." [2]

Since 1991, he headed the department of computational methods of the Computing Center of the RAS.

Since 1968, he worked part-time for more than 30 years at the Department of Higher Mathematics of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology , and since 1991 he has been a professor in this department.

He died after a serious long illness. He was buried in the Khovansky cemetery .
