It is located 7 km west of the regional center of Anzorei , and 28 km east of Nalchik . The Caucasus highway M 29 passes through the village.
The area of the rural settlement is 75 km 2 . Of these, about 10% of the settlement area falls on the settlement, about 90% on agricultural land and pastures.

The village is located in the transition from the foothill to the mountainous zone of the republic. The relief is a mountainous and abundantly wooded area in the south, and foothill sloping plains in the north. The elevation differences in the rural settlement are significant. The highest point of the rural settlement is Mount Kort-Tlyapa ( Kabard.-Cherk. Guarte and plapahe ) with a height of 1041 meters above sea level, which drops to 330-350 meters in the north of the rural settlement.

The average annual air temperature is + 10.0 ° С. The average annual rainfall is about 700 mm. Most rainfall occurs between May and July. The main winds are northwest and east. Frosts begin in late October and end in late March.
History
The village has an ancient and rich history [3] . The first settlements in the village already existed in the Stone Age.
The name of the settlement came from the name of the Kabardian prince Argu. His name was subsequently assigned to the river flowing through the village, with the addition of the Ossetian word “don”, which means “river”. The Adyg surname Argunova also allegedly originates from this prince.
It is not known exactly when the village was founded by Prince Argu. However, it is known that during the Caucasian War , there were 5 auls along the banks of the Argudan River - Kozhokovo ( Kabard. Cherk. Kuezhyykuey ), Elbazdukino ( Kabard. Cherk. Elbyzdokuey ), Tlostanlievo ( Kabard . -Cherk. Hemyrze kheble ) and Erkenovo (Kabard. -cherk. Yerchen kheble ).
In 1867, during the Land Reform of Kabarda, all of them were united in one village and named Kozhokovo ( Kuezhyykuyu ), in honor of the largest of the five united auls. Representatives of this genus also owned the villages of Upper Kozhokovo (now Zhemtala ) and Lower Kozhokovo (now Lower Cherek ).
In 1920, with the final establishment of Soviet power in Kabarda, Kozhokovo, like other Kabardian villages, was renamed due to the presence of noble and princely names in their names. As a result, the village received its new name from the Argudan River flowing through the village.
Until 1937, the Argudan Village Council was part of the Urvan District of the Kabardino-Balkarian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. Then it is included in the newly formed Leskensky district .
In 1962, with the liquidation of the Leskensky district, the village council was transferred back to the Urvan district .
During World War II , the village was occupied by German troops for several months at the end of 1942. After their retreat, the restoration of the village began. Monuments were erected in memory of the victims in the village.
In 2003, Argudan was included in the formed Leskensky district , which was again separated from the Urvan district as a separate municipal district.
