Born on August 25, 1946, in the village of Good Lake, Nezhinsky District, Chernihiv Region. Mother was a soloist of the church choir [2] . In 1969 he graduated from the Kharkov State Institute of Culture , after which he entered the Kharkov State Institute of Arts. I. Kotlyarevsky , ending it in 1974. In 1979 he graduated from the graduate school of the Institute of Art, Folklore and Ethnography. M. T. Rylsky NAS of Ukraine. In the spring of 1981, he was appointed Deputy Director for Creative Affairs of the National Opera of Ukraine named after T. G. Shevchenko , associate Stefan Turchak .

Since 1991 - Head of the Department of Arts, Deputy Head of the Main Department of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine , in 1994 he headed the Department of Culture in the Presidential Administration of Ukraine , since February 1997, he was Deputy Minister of Culture and Arts of Ukraine . He was in the diplomatic service at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Russian Federation .

Since 2004 - Rector of the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after P. I. Tchaikovsky [3] .

Member of the Party of Regions . In the elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in 2012 he ran for the list of this party under the number 176 [4] . The declared income for 2011 is 630,247 hryvnia.

Activity

Candidate of Art Criticism (1984), Doctor of Art Criticism (January 1997; the dissertation is devoted to topical issues of Ukrainian conducting work and the multifaceted art of S. Turchak). Author of monographs "Stefan Turchak", "Sunny Maestro" and "Music and Modernity", dozens of scientific works on the evolution of Ukrainian musical and theatrical art.

Initiator and organizer of the National Contest of Young Conductors named after Stefan Turchak. He headed the organizing committees of a number of contests and festivals (including the International Lifar Ballet Competition).

Vladimir Rozhok - an experienced conductor-choirmaster (collaborated with K. Penderetsky , V. Spivakov and B. Kotorovich ), was artistic director of the boys choir of the Kiev secondary special boarding school named after M. Lysenko.

Family

He was married (he met his wife at the Kharkiv State Conservatory, married on April 7, 1973), two sons: the eldest son Oleg is a conductor and accompanist, he finished ten years, a conservatory, graduate school and works in teaching. The younger son also graduated from the ten-year musical and choral department, the conservatory, graduate school, also works in the Philharmonic [5] .

  • Order of Friendship ( April 20, 2007 , Russia ) - for a great contribution to the development and strengthening of Russian-Ukrainian cultural ties [8]
  • People's Artist of Ukraine ( December 3, 2008 ) - for significant personal contribution to the development of Ukrainian culture and musical art, significant creative achievements and high professional skills [9]
  • Honored Artist of Ukraine ( July 23, 1998 ) - for significant personal contribution to the development of culture and art of Ukraine, high creative achievements [10]
