Asuero ( Spanish Península de Azuero ) is a peninsula in Central America , in the south of Panama .

Toponym
The peninsula is named after the Colombian politician and journalist Vicente Asuero Plata .
Geography
The peninsula projects south of the Isthmus of Panama . From the south and west it is washed by the Pacific Ocean , in the east - by the Gulf of Panama . Cape Mariato in the southwestern part is the most southern exact North America. The peninsula is divided into three Panamanian provinces: Herrera , Los Santos , Veraguas .
