The list of best-selling albums of the 2000s (UK) includes the UK's most popular music albums of the 2000s (first decade). Compiled by The Official Charts Company (OSS) [1] [2] .
Since 2005, when compiling the list, sales of both physical and downloads of digital albums through legal online stores were taken into account. [3]
BBC Radio 1 announced this chart on December 28, 2009 in its program, presented by DJ Nihal . [4] At the same time, the List of the best-selling singles of the decade in the UK was also presented, which was announced in a series of three shows between December 29 and 31, 2009. [four]
Singer James Blunt released the best-selling album of the first decade of the 2000s: Back to Bedlam The title of best-selling album of the decade was won by singer James Blunt , whose debut album Back to Bedlam , released in 2005, sold 3.04 million Ex. [5] This is only a little more than the No Angel album of singer Dido , who finished second with a circulation of 3.03 million ex. [6]
As a result, the entire top five were occupied by soloists (singers and singers): Amy Winehouse (3), Leon Lewis (4) and David Gray (5). [7] The Beatles with compilation album 1 became the most successful of the groups, taking the 6th place; groups Coldplay (8), Scissor Sisters (9) and Take That (10) closed the top ten. [8] [9]
