Khmelnitskaya - the former village, was located in the territory of the modern Kalininsky district of the Krasnodar Territory , on the banks of the marshy Ponursky estuary ( Ponura river), 10 km west of the village of Kalininsky (Popovicheskaya) .

Ponursky Khutor - the forerunner of the village was formed by the decision of the military government of March 19, 1880 on the right bank of the Ponura near its mouth and estuary. The first to include 47 Cossack allotments located 12 miles west of the village of Popovichevskaya. In 1913, on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty, the Ponursky farm was converted into the village of Khmelnytsky in honor of the hetman of Ukraine and the ataman of the Zaporizhzhya Sich in 1648–1649. Bohdan Khmelnytsky. In 1880 there were 420 inhabitants and 67 households in the Ponursky farm; in 1916 in the village of Khmelnitsky there were 1342 inhabitants of 170 yards. After carried out in 1929-1933. collectivization in the village was formed one collective farm "The Way of Socialism". In December 1942, in a frosty cold, the village was burned by Nazi occupiers. In 1977, the village was abolished in connection with the transformation of the territory under rice cultivation.
