Biography
Born in Wales , Flanagan studied at the Birmingham College of Arts and Crafts, then at the St. Martin School of Art in London , graduated from it in 1966, and remained teaching there. The great solo exhibitions of Flanagan were held in Madrid ( 1993 ), Nantes ( 1994 ), Brussels ( 1999 ), Liverpool ( 2000 ), Nice ( 2002 ).
Died of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease).
Creativity
Flanagan hare has been exhibited many times in the open air, the most representative were the exhibitions in New York ( 1995 ) and Chicago ( 1996 ). Many hares are permanently installed as urban sculptures; The Hare-Thinker, which reproduces the pose of Rodin's famous sculpture, is especially popular: he received a permanent residence permit at the University of St. Louis , and copies travel around the world and can be found on the streets of different cities.
