“Spectator of public life, literature and sports” is a weekly illustrated magazine. He was published in Moscow, edited by S.P. Koloshin , from December 16, 1861 to 1863.
According to its political program and sympathies, the “Spectator of Public Life, Literature and Sports” adjoined the Aksakov weekly newspaper “Den”.
I.S. Aksakov himself had a rather low opinion of this journal [1] :
It was a conservative body that openly supported the government’s repressive policy towards the revolutionary democratic press and the Polish rebels.

Among the employees of the magazine was G.I. Uspensky , whose works first appeared on the pages of the magazine in 1862 (short stories and essays “Idyll. Fathers and Sons”, “On a Holiday and a Holiday”, “National Festivities in Vsesvyatsky”, “Guest” , “On the Run”, “Summer Sergius at the Trinity”). [2] , B. N. Almazov and others.
The publication of the magazine “Spectator of Public Life, Literature and Sports” ceased after a year and a half due to a lack of funds.
