Initial Biography

Pyotr Leontyevich Rogalyov was born on August 13, 1912 in the village of Belotserkovka, now the village of Travnevoe, in the Svatovsky district of the Luhansk region, in a peasant family.

He graduated from seven classes. Prior to being drafted into the army, he worked on a collective farm , as well as the chairman of the Svatovsky district consumer union.

Military Service

Pre-war period

In October 1934 he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army by the Swatovsky District Military Commissariat of the Voroshilovgrad Region .

In 1938 he graduated from the Advanced Training Courses for the command staff.

In 1939 he joined the ranks of the CPSU (b) .

World War II

Since June 1941, he took part in battles on the fronts of World War II.

In 1943 he graduated from accelerated courses at the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze .

On May 8, 1944, the 997th Rifle Regiment ( 263rd Rifle Division , 51st Army ) under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Rogalyov broke through the enemy’s defenses near Sevastopol and hoisted the USSR flag at a height of “256.2”. The successful offensive of the regiment contributed to the development of the general offensive, as a result of which the villages of Kaitany and Inkerman (now Belokamensk) were liberated.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, for the successful command of the regiment, courage and heroism shown in battles with Nazi invaders, Lt. Col. Pyotr Leontyevich Rogalyov was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 6275) )

Post-War Career

In 1956 he graduated from the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze .

From 1959 to 1963, Rogalev worked as a military commissar of the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic .

He was elected as a deputy to the Supreme Council of the BASSR ( 5 , 6 convocations).

Since 1964, Colonel Peter Leontyevich Rogalev retired. He lived in the city of Ufa , where he died on March 5, 1988 . He was buried in the Southern cemetery .
