Initial Biography
Ivan Fedorovich Nikolaev was born on May 6, 1890 in Yaroslavl.
Military Service
He was drafted into the Russian army in 1912 .
World War I and Civil War
In 1915 he graduated from the ensign school in Moscow .
During World War I, he commanded a battalion on the Western Front , where he rose to the rank of staff captain .

World War II
