The Planning Commission of India is the government agency of India , whose tasks include, among other functions, the development of five-year economic plans [1] . It was established by the country's first prime minister , Jawaharlal Nehru , who also became its first chairman, on March 15, 1950 [2] . It was dissolved in 2014 by the decision of the right-wing prime minister Narendra Modi , who replaced her with the NITI Aayog agency [3] .

Functions
The Planning Commission of India was created [4] :
- In order to formulate a plan for the most efficient and balanced use of the country's resources .
- To indicate factors that tend to inhibit economic development .
- To determine the conditions that must be created for the successful implementation of the plan in the framework of the current socio-political situation in the country.
- To determine the nature of the technique necessary to ensure the successful implementation of each phase of the plan in all its aspects.
- In order to make necessary recommendations from time to time regarding those things that are considered necessary to facilitate the performance of these functions. Such recommendations may be related to the prevailing economic conditions, current policies, measures and development programs [5] .
