Biography
Axel Kühn was born on June 22, 1967 in the city of Erfurt , Thuringia . He started performing in a bobsled on a professional level in 1988, joined the national team as an accelerator and immediately began to show good results, finishing second at the European Championships in Sarajevo. Soon he joined the four-seater crew of the titled pilot Wolfgang Hoppe , with whom he won gold at the 1991 World Championships in Altenberg, coming first in the classification of fours.
After gaining a foothold, he went to defend the country's honor at the Olympic Games in Albertville , where in addition to Hoppe, their team also included dispersing Bogdan Muziol and Rene Hannemann . Their four finished second and thus won silver medals. In 1993, he won the German championship, but at the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer, the coaches had already refused his candidacy, so Kün decided to end his career as a professional athlete.
