The Glubokoe deposit is a gypsum deposit near the village of Svetly in the Kholmogorsky district of the Arkhangelsk region .
History
In March 2005, the Department of Natural Resources issued a license to Knauf Gyps St. Petersburg CJSC for exploration and production of gypsum at the Glubokoye manifestation. To organize work at the Glubokoe field, a subsidiary, Knauf Gips Arkhangelsk, was created. Both enterprises are divisions of the German company Knauf .
One of the factors of choice for the development of this particular field was its proximity to the railroad tracks. The total investment of the company in the implementation of the project amounted to more than 500 million rubles.
The quarry for the extraction of gypsum in an open-explosive way was inaugurated on June 19, 2008, which in turn caused discontent among the residents of the region [1] . First of all, concerns were expressed about the threat of the destruction of the unique caves of the Chugsky reserve , the destruction of plants and animals listed in the Red Book of the region .
Operation
Since 2008, the Knauf gypsum Arkhangelsk LLC has been developing the Glubokoe deposit. The extracted gypsum is supplied by the sister company Knauf gypsum Kolpino LLC in St. Petersburg , which is engaged in the production of building materials.
Estimated reserves of the field are more than 20 million tons.

Other facts
- A license to develop the field was issued by the Department of Natural Resources of the Arkhangelsk Region in 2005. Then the department was headed by Anatoly Mikhailovich Vorona. However, already in 2007, a year before the opening of the quarry, he took the place of the Executive Director of Knauf Gips Arkhangelsk LLC.
