Biography

Otto von Munchausen was born in the city of Hamelin on June 11, 1716 .

He received excellent training and studied at the University of Gottingen for higher public service [5] .

Munchhausen, however, was not limited only to the need for vocational training, and turned with success to the special natural science and mathematical fields of knowledge [5] .

Otto von Munchausen corresponded with the eminent Swedish scientist Carl Linnaeus [4] . His correspondence with Carl Linnaeus lasted from April 18, 1751 until July 24, 1773 [4] .

In 1764 - 1773 , Munchausen published a six-volume work Der Hausvater , which became a treasury of solid knowledge and worldly wisdom [5] .

Otto von Munchausen died in the city of Mechnich July 13, 1774 .
