History
Previously, on the site of a stone stood the wooden church of St. Nicholas on Ozertsa. Until 1654, the Ozeretsky, together with the temple, belonged to the palace department. In 1654, Alexei Mikhailovich granted the village with the temple to Patriarch Nikon .
The patriarchs visited Nicholas on Ozertsa several times.
In 1703, a decree was issued by Peter I on the erection of a stone church on the site of a wooden church. The interest of Peter I himself in the construction of this church is indicated by the fact that once the king, hunting in the local forests, got lost and, probably, after a prayer, went to "Nicola on the Lake". [2] Construction was carried out for 5 years under the supervision of Ivan Alekseevich Musin-Pushkin . In 1708, the church was consecrated.
In the 19th century, two more chapels were added. In 1906, the heads of the church were redone according to the project of architect N.P. Matveev [3] .
The temple operated until 1939-1940, when the last priest, Father Paul, was repressed, and the temple was closed.
In 1990, church services resumed.
