In 1937-1941 he studied at Moscow State University . First, at the Faculty of Geography , and after the Crimean Geological Practice of the 2nd year, he transferred to the Geology and Soil Faculty of Moscow State University . He was an excellent student and a Stalin scholarship. He received the diploma in 1943, in accordance with a government decree for front-line soldiers who have completed 4 years of higher education.

On September 21 he was wounded by shrapnel in the head, until January 2, 1942 he was in the hospital.
Then he was transferred from infantry to aviation, where he became the head of the service of fuel and lubricants (POL) of the battalion of airfield service. There he met and became friends with Yu. A. Kosygin , who inspected him.
In 1944 he became the head of fuel and lubricants of the entire area of air bases and was promoted to lieutenant technician. In December 1944, he was transferred from Poland to Moscow - to the fuel department of the Air Force headquarters. Participant of the Victory Parade in Moscow [3] . Demobilized in December 1945 [4] .
