Selgi (from the Finnish. Selk盲 - a rocky ridge ) is the common name for the ridged forms of the glacial relief ( lakes , moraine ridges and others), common in the Baltic Sea basin ( Finland , Karelia ).

Description
Selga can be formed by both crystalline rocks and loose deposits. The length of the selg varies from tens of meters to tens (sometimes hundreds) of kilometers , width - from several meters to 1-3 km. The height usually reaches 40-50 m. Often, selgos covered with pine forests alternate with depressions, occupied by swamps and lakes , thus creating the so-called selgh landscape .
The term Selga often refers to moraine ridges located across the former glacier. Also called Selgas are sand ridges formed from deposits of thawed glacial waters flowing in the body of a glacier ( oz ). In addition, in Karelia and neighboring areas, Selgans call hills , rocky ridges, rocky shallows in lakes.
