Biography
Early years
Ivan G. Donskoy was born on January 27, 1917 in the village of Ust-Mosikh now Rebrikhinsky district of the Altai Territory in the family of a Russian peasant . After graduating from 9 classes, Don entered the Barnaul Pedagogical School, which he graduated in 1937. He worked as a teacher in high school and participated in the organization of a collective farm in his native village.
On October 23, 1939, he served in the ranks of the Red Army . In 1941 he was admitted to the CPSU .
Participation in the Great Patriotic War
C June 1941 Don took part in the fighting on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War . He fought as an assistant platoon commander, platoon commander, mortar battery, battalion on the Baltic Fleet , Leningradsky , 1st Belorussian and 3rd Belorussian fronts. He participated in the defense of the naval base of the Baltic Fleet Hanko - in 1941; in the defense of Leningrad (in particular, the Roads of Life and the Shlisselburg Coast) - in 1942; in breaking the blockade and the release of Shlisselburg - in 1943 (at the same time he graduated with honors from the artillery and mortar courses of the Leningrad Military District ); in the final lifting of the blockade , the liberation of Kaunas - in 1944. He was wounded twice, but always returned to his unit.
In early March 1945, during the Vistula-Oder operation , the commander of the 1st division of the 538th mortar regiment, Senior Lieutenant Donskikh, took part in battles to expand the bridgehead on the Oder River near the village of Vogelsang (20 km southeast of the city of Frankfurt). on the Oder , Germany ). Precise artillery preparation of the Don allowed to suppress the enemy's fire system, ensuring the success of the offensive units. Having taken Vogelsang, Donskoy with the battalion repulsed 13 counterattacks of the fascists each from a platoon to two companies each, twice causing fire on themselves. By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 31, 1945, for the exemplary performance of the tasks of the command in the fight against the German fascist invaders and the courage and heroism shown to them, Ivan G. Donorski was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 6998).
After the war
After the war, Don continued to serve in the army. In 1948, he graduated from the Higher Officers Artillery School, where he served as deputy chief of staff.
Since 1956, Major Don - in stock. He worked as director of the iron foundry in Novosibirsk , as a senior safety engineer at the precision engineering plant. From 1979 he lived in the Maikop of the Republic of Adygea .
October 12, 1997, Ivan G. Donskoy died. He was buried in Maykop with military honors at the veteran section of the Maykop city cemetery.
