Biography

Born in 1898 in Samara [1] , in the family of Anatoly Modestovich Vakar , chairman of the Kingdom of Poland Prosecutor's Office, the son of General M.A. Vakar .

He began his scientific career in 1939 . He was a supporter of the Lausanne school in political economy, which sought to justify the use of mathematics in economics.

From 1940 to 1944, during the occupation of Poland, he was one of the founders and leaders of the illegal Higher Trade School, in 1945-1948 he was a professor and rector of this school.

Since 1948, professor at the Higher School of Planning and Statistics . The main focus at this time, Wakar focused on the study of competition, prices and foreign trade.

In 1948-1950 he was appointed rector of the Academy of Political Sciences, while remaining a professor at the Higher School of Planning and Statistics .

Since the 1950s he dealt with problems of the theory of the functioning of the economy. In the concept of direct and indirect calculation that he created, Vakar gave an analysis of the basic principles and possibilities of developing optimal plans, as well as the effectiveness of their implementation.

Until his death in 1966, Vakar was engaged in research of the economic management system and ways to improve it.
