Yowie ( eng. Yowie ) - a term to refer to unidentified members of the Hominid family, allegedly hiding in the Australian deserts. They are Australian cryptids that have them in common with Bigfoot and Bigfoot .
Yovi, also called Yowie -wowi ( Eng. Yowie-Whowie ) and Jaku ( Engl. Yahoo ), can be descended from one of the mythological characters of the folklore of the natives of Australia . The characteristics of this creature and legend sometimes overlap with those of the bunyp [1] . According to some scholars, yowi are creatures prevalent in the legends and histories of Australian Aboriginal tribes, especially in the eastern states of Australia [2] .
Since the mid -1970s, an entoustist , who declared himself a cryptozoologist [3] , has been trying to popularize Yovi. He claimed that he collected more than 3,000 reports of them, and suggested that they constitute relict populations of extinct monkeys or species of the human species [4] .
Reports that people have seen yovi traces continue to this day - in 2009 it was claimed that yovi brought death and serious injuries to pets, such as dogs. Others argued that this could be the result of attacks by wild animals, such as the dingo [5] .
