The transverse abdominal muscle ( lat. Musculus transversus abdominis ), located under the internal oblique abdominal muscle , is a thin muscle-tendon plate with the transverse direction of the muscle bundles, covered with its own fascia [1] . A muscle begins on the inner surface of the VII-XII ribs (here its muscle teeth are wedged between the teeth of the rib part of the diaphragm ), the inner lip of the iliac crest, the lumbo-thoracic fascia, the lateral third of the inguinal ligament. The bundles go horizontally forward and, not reaching the outer edge of the rectus abdominis muscle, pass into a wide aponeurosis along the line concave in the medial direction - the lunate (spigel) line (linea semilunaris). In the midline, the aponeurosis bundles are involved in the formation of the White line of the abdomen . A small number of bundles are separated from the lower sections of the transverse muscle, joining the same bundles from the internal oblique muscle of the abdomen , forming with them the muscle that lifts the testicle (musculus cremaster). It is the bottom of the triangle (rhombus) Lesgaft - Greenfelt or lumbar space [2] .

Function
Being an important component of the abdominal press, the muscle reduces the volume of the abdominal cavity, pulls the ribs forward to the midline. It supports the abdominal organs in the correct anatomical position, is a kind of corset in the abdominal region. Participates in the stabilization of the lumbar and pelvic bones.
Innervation
Intercostal nerves (ThV-ThXII), iliac-hypogastric nerve (ThXII-LI), iliac-inguinal nerve (LI).
Blood supply
The posterior intercostal, upper and lower epigastric, muscular-diaphragmatic artery.
