Emblem Description
“In an azure (blue, blue) field under a silver head, burdened with a black mountain with a crater , because of which expanding scarlet (red) rays come out, a golden net with three floats laid over the edge of the head; over the net are two silver fish , the first of which is turned to the left. ”
Description of the symbols of the coat of arms
The South Kuril region is located on the archipelago of volcanic islands. Each island is a volcano, a fragment of a volcano or a chain of volcanoes merging along its feet. One of them is Tyatya volcano on Kunashir island, depicted in the coat of arms, as the main attraction of the area.
The red rays of the rising sun show that the inhabitants of the region are one of the first to meet the dawn on the territory of our country.
Red color is a symbol of courage, beauty and life.
The gold net and silver fish indicate that the leading sector of the region’s economy is fishing and seafood processing.
The network with floats also reflects the cross-border location of the islands - here it serves as an obstacle, a cordon.
Azure (blue) shield field symbolizes the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Okhotsk , washing the islands, and the blue color symbolizes honor and virtue.
Silver in heraldry is a symbol of purity, wisdom, nobility, peace, mutual cooperation.
Gold is a symbol of strength, wealth, majesty, intelligence and insight.
The emblem in the language of heraldic symbols harmoniously reflects geographic and natural features, as well as the main profile of the activities of the local population.
