The district includes the northern part of the city center of Arkhangelsk, as well as settlements on the island of Kego ( Kegostrov microdistrict). The territory of the okrug is washed by the waters of the Northern Dvina River , and its tributary of the Kuznechikha River.

Oktyabrsky district borders on the north with Solombal and Northern districts (across the Kuznechikha river), in the west - with the Tsiglomen district (the border runs along the Nikolsky branch of the Northern Dvina), in the south - with the Lomonosov district (the border is Voskresenskaya street ). The northwestern (on the island of Kego) and the eastern borders of the okrug are also the borders of the city. The administration of the Oktyabrsky District is located at Troitsky Prospekt, 61.

The territorial okrug is subordinated to 1 rural settlement - the village Talazh Aviagorodok [3] at the international airport of the city of Arkhangelsk Talagi .

History

In 1991, in accordance with the resolution of the Mayor of Arkhangelsk dated November 13, 1991 No. 2 and the decision of the Arkhangelsk City Council of Deputies dated November 15, 1991 No. 88 “On the Formation of Territorial Urban Districts”, the structure of the city’s governing bodies was reorganized, as a result which eliminated the division into districts and formed 9 territorial districts, including Oktyabrsky [11] [12] .

Infrastructure

The main administrative buildings of Arkhangelsk and the Arkhangelsk Region are located on the territory of the okrug: the building of the Administration of the Arkhangelsk Region , the building of the Arkhangelsk Regional Council of Deputies, the building of the Internal Affairs Directorate in the Arkhangelsk Region, the building of the Federal Penitentiary Service in the Arkhangelsk Region.

Also in the Oktyabrsky District of Arkhangelsk there are the largest city healthcare institutions: the First City Clinical Hospital named after EE Volosevich, City Clinic No. 1, Northern Medical Center of Roszdrav named after N. A. Semashko, Arkhangelsk Regional Clinical Hospital, Arkhangelsk Clinical Oncology Center , Dental Clinic No. 1, Regional Blood Transfusion Station; and a number of large city educational institutions: gymnasium No. 3, gymnasium No. 6, Children's and Youth Sports School No. 5 (chess and drafts), children's art school No. 1.

The State Archives of the Arkhangelsk Region , the Arkhangelsk Regional Scientific Library named after Dobrolyubov , the Arkhangelsk Regional Museum of Local Lore , the Northern State Medical University and the two largest Arkhangelsk stadiums (Trud and Dynamo) are also located in the Oktyabrsky District.

The largest necropolis of Arkhangelsk, the Vologda cemetery, is located on the territory of the okrug.
