Jan Bos ( Dutch Jan Bos ; born March 29, 1975 ) is a Dutch skater and cyclist . In speed skating - two-time silver medalist of the Olympic Games at 1000 m, two-time world champion, multiple champion of the Netherlands, world record holder at 1000 m. He participated in five Olympic Games - four times as a skater in the winter (1998, 2002, 2006 and 2010) and once in the summer (2004) as a track cyclist. The cyclist brother Theo Bos .

Speed Skating
The first time he took part in the Dutch championship in 1994, the best result was sixth in 1000 meters. He won the first podiums in 1996, took second place in the national championships of 500 and 1000 meters, became the third in the Dutch championship in sprint.
In the 1996/1997 season, he won the Netherlands Sprint Championship and became second in the 1000 m at the World Championship in individual distances.
At the Olympic Games in Nagano in 1998, he participated in three distances, was 12th at 500m, 4th at 1500m. He won a silver medal at 1000m, losing to his compatriot Eads Postme .
At the next Olympics in Salt Lake City, he repeated his success, becoming the second at 1000 m, also lost to his compatriot - Gerard Van Velde .
At the Olympic Games in 2006 and 2010, failed to win medals.
In 2011, he completed his sports career.
In June 2013, it was announced that in the Olympic season, Jan Bos will coach his longtime rival, Jeremy Waterspoon , who announced his return to the sport [1] .
Achievements
- Netherlands Championship: 10-time individual distance champion, 6-time sprint all-around.
- World Cup: three times was the second in the World Cup 1000 meters, and three times was third in the same distance.
- World Championships: gold, silver and bronze of the world sprint all-around championships, one gold and three silver per 1000 m in individual distance championships, one bronze per 1500 m.
- Olympic Games: two silver medals.
World Record
Twice won the world record for 1000 meters. The first time set a world record on November 22, 1997, but the very next day he was beaten by Lee Gyu Hyuk . The second time he set a record on February 21, 1999, which was broken a year later by Jeremy Waterspun . [2]

Cycling
He took part in the 2004 Olympics in Athens , where he performed in the team sprint on the track together with his younger brother Theo Bos (born 1983) and Theon Mulder . The team took 6th place.
In 2012, he plans to break a speed record for cycling at 133 km / h in the Nevada desert [3] . For this, a special bike with a low landing and an aerodynamic body kit was developed for the least air resistance.
