Arefevsky circle

Arefevsky circle is an informal association of independent Leningrad artists.

It arose in the late 1940s.

The group consisted of Alexander Arefyev ( 1931 - 1978 ), Richard Vasmi ( 1929 - 1998 ), Sholom Schwartz ( 1929 - 1995 ), Vladimir Shagin ( 1932 - 1999 ) and Valentin Gromov (born 1930 ). Poet Roald Mandelstam ( 1932 - 1961 ) also joined the "Arefiev circle".
