Medal Regulation
The medal “For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945” is awarded to:
- workers, engineering and technical personnel and employees of industry and transport;
- collective farmers and agricultural specialists;
- workers in science, technology, art and literature;
- workers of Soviet, party, trade union and other public organizations - who ensured with their valiant and selfless labor the victory of the Soviet Union over Germany in the Great Patriotic War.
In accordance with the Regulation on the order of presentation of the medal approved by the Secretariat of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR on August 21, 1945, this medal was awarded to persons who worked at the enterprise, institution, transport, state farm, MTS for at least one year from June 1941 to May 1945 year.
People with disabilities of the Patriotic War who returned to work, young workers who graduated from vocational schools and schools of the Federal Labor Law, people who were relieved of work on disability, women who were relieved of work by marital status, the medal “For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.” was awarded on condition that the above persons worked for at least 6 months in the specified period.
The old manufacturers who returned to work during the Great Patriotic War were awarded a medal even if they worked even less than six months.
The presentation of the medal to the collective farmers was subject to overfulfilment of the minimum workdays established by the collective farm and the observance of labor discipline on the collective farm.
The medal "For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" is worn on the left side of the chest and, in the presence of other medals of the USSR, is located after the medal "For the Liberation of Prague" .
As of January 1, 1987, the medal “For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945” awarded about 16.1 million people [1] .
Medal Description
The medal "For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" is made of copper and has the shape of a regular circle with a diameter of 32 mm.
On the front side of the medal is a profile chest image of I.V. Stalin in a marshal's uniform. In the upper part of the coin around the circumference the inscription: “OUR BUSINESS IS RIGHT”, in the lower part around the circumference the inscription “WE WIN”.
On the reverse side of the medal there are inscriptions: around the circle - “FOR DEMANDABLE LABOR”, and in the center - “IN THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR 1941-1945”, in the upper part - a sickle and a hammer, in the lower part - a five-pointed asterisk.
All inscriptions and images on the medal are convex.
The medal is connected with an eye and a ring to a pentagonal block, covered with a red silk moire ribbon 24 mm wide. In the middle of the tape is a green strip 7 mm wide. The edges of the ribbon are bordered by narrow yellow stripes.
