The medal "For the Liberation of Prague" was established by Decree of the Presidium of the USSR Supreme Council of June 9, 1945 . The authors of the medal drawing are artist A. I. Kuznetsov and artist Skorzhinskaya.

Content
Medal Description
The medal “For the Liberation of Prague” is made of brass and has the shape of a regular circle with a diameter of 32 mm. On the front side at the top there is an inscription “FOR EXEMPTION”, below it there is an inscription “PRAGUE”, below is an image of the rising sun and two laurel branches connected under a five-pointed star. The front side of the coin is bordered by a side. On the reverse side of the coin is the date of the liberation of Prague: “ May 9, 1945 ”, under the date there is a five-pointed asterisk. All inscriptions and images on the medal are convex. The medal is connected with an eye and a ring to a pentagonal block, covered with a lilac silk moire ribbon 24 mm wide. In the middle of the tape is a blue strip 8 mm wide.
Wear Rules
The medal "For the Liberation of Prague" is worn on the left side of the chest and, in the presence of other medals of the USSR, is located after the medal "For the Liberation of Warsaw" .
Since September 7, 2010, when wearing USSR orders and USSR medals intended to be worn on pads, with orders of the Russian Federation and medals of the Russian Federation, orders of the USSR are placed after orders of the Russian Federation, USSR medals - after medals of the Russian Federation [1] .
Awarded
The medal “For the Liberation of Prague” was awarded to soldiers of the Red Army, Navy and NKVD troops - direct participants in the Prague operation from May 3–9, 1945, as well as organizers and leaders of military operations during the liberation of this city.
As of 1962, over 395,000 people had been awarded the medal “For the Liberation of Prague”. Among the awarded - 40 thousand citizens of Czechoslovakia [2] .
