The medal “For the Liberation of Belgrade” is a medal established by the Decree of the Presidium of the USSR Armed Forces of June 9, 1945 . The medal project was created by the artist A.I. Kuznetsov.

Medal Regulation

The Medal "For the Liberation of Belgrade" is awarded to soldiers of the Red Army , Navy and NKVD troops - direct participants in the heroic assault and the liberation of Belgrade from September 29 to October 22, 1944, as well as organizers and leaders of military operations during the liberation of this city.

The medal “For the liberation of Belgrade” is worn on the left side of the chest and, in the presence of other medals of the USSR, is located after the medal “For the capture of Berlin” .

The medal “For the Liberation of Belgrade” was awarded to about 70,000 people.

Medal Description

The medal “For the Liberation of Belgrade” is made of brass and has the shape of a regular circle with a diameter of 32 mm.

On the front side of the coin around the circumference there is an inscription “FOR LIBERATION”, in the center there is an inscription “BELGRADE”, at the top there is a five-pointed star, a laurel wreath around.

The front side of the coin is bordered by a side.

On the flip side of the coin, the date of the liberation of Belgrade is “October 20, 1944”, above the date is a five-pointed star.

All inscriptions and images on the medal are convex.

The medal with the help of an eye and a ring is connected to a pentagonal block, covered with a green silk moire ribbon 24 mm wide. In the middle of the tape is a black strip 8 mm wide.
