Ingo Appelt ( German: Ingo Appelt ; born December 11, 1961 , Innsbruck , Tyrol ) is an Austrian bobsledder , a pilot who played for the Austrian team in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Participant in two winter Olympic games, champion of Albertville , two-time winner of the World Cup, champion of Europe.

Biography
Ingo Appelt was born on December 11, 1961 in Innsbruck , the federal state of Tyrol . After graduating from high school, he moved to Fulpmes municipality, where he entered a technical school, studied the design and manufacture of jewelry. He began to perform in a bobsled on a professional level in the mid-1980s and from the very beginning began to show good results, he got into the national team of Austria as a pilot. Thanks to a series of successful performances, in 1988 he was invited to defend the country's honor at the Calgary Olympics, competed in a pair with the overclocking Harald Winkler , but could not take prizes there, having arrived fifth in the two and seventh in the four.
The main successes in Appelt's career are related to overclocking partner Thomas Schroll . Together they participated in the 1992 Games in Albertville and won gold medals in the program of four-seater crews, and also finished fourth in the standings of the twos. Among other things, Ingo Appelt has on his track record a bronze medal of the 1990 World Cup , held in Swiss St. Moritz . In 1989, he won the European Championship. According to the results of all stages of the World Cup, he twice occupied the first place in the overall classification (in the seasons 1987/88 and 1988/89), while in the 1990/91 season he took two silver awards.
After completing his career as a professional athlete, as a member of the Austrian Freedom Party , he ran for MP in the Tyrolean Parliament, but soon left politics and returned to his previous occupation - the production of jewelry. In 1992 he was awarded the Golden Knight's Cross of the honorary badge “ For Merit to the Republic of Austria ” [1] .
