Beran-le-Forbach ( French Behren-lès-Forbach ) is a commune in the north-east of France , the Grand Est region [1] (former Alsace - Champagne - Ardenne - Lorraine ), Moselle department . It is the center of the canton of the same name .

Beran-le-Forbach is located 60 km east of Metz . Neighboring communes: Stiren-Wandel and Absterdick in the north, Spisran and Etzlen in the northeast, Kerbash in the east, Busbash in the southeast, Gobven in the south, Volklen in the southwest, Ethen in the west, Forbuck in the northwest.
History
- The commune of the former duchy of Lorraine , was a member of the Senate Forbach.
- It was first mentioned in the XIV century as a mining village.
- The commune was destroyed during the Thirty Years War of 1618–1648.
- In 1871, the city under the Frankfurt Treaty ceded to the German Empire and received the Germanized name Kerbach-Behren . In 1918, after the defeat of Germany in World War I, it again became part of France in the Moselle department.
Demographics
According to the 2008 census, 8514 people lived in the commune. About a third of the population consists of immigrants from the Maghreb countries.
