Serbian Victor Solomonovich was born on May 1, 1933 in prison, in the Verkhneuralsk political prison, where his mother was imprisoned. On October 13, 1937, his parents, Evgenia Tigranovna Zakharyan (1901-1937, a native of Tiflis ) [1] and Solomon Naumovich Serbsky (1906-1937, a native of Berdichev ) [2] , convinced Trotskyists , were shot in Magadan , and a four-year-old boy ended up in orphanage in Vladivostok .

In 1950, he graduated from high school with a silver medal, in 1955 - the Irkutsk Mining and Metallurgical Institute . Since 1955, he worked in Norilsk at a metallurgical plant as a foreman, site manager, and shop manager. Since 1967, in Bratsk, in Bratskgesstroi - Director of the Central Mechanical Plant. Since 1976, at the Bratsk Heating Equipment Plant, he was the head of the production and dispatch department, then deputy. production director. He was awarded the medals "For Labor Valor" , "For Valiant Labor" , "Veteran of Labor" . Twice elected as a deputy of the Council of People's Deputies of the city of Bratsk.

In 1989, V. S. Serbsky was one of the initiators of the creation of a branch of the Memorial Society in the city of Bratsk.

Searching in the opened archives of the NKVD- KGB for information about the circumstances of the arrest and death of his father and mother, Viktor Solomonovich was able, as an adult, to receive for the first time copies of prison photographs of his parents and several official documents. These materials formed the basis of the book [3] - "Conversations with portraits of parents . " After the release of this book, the author received many reviews. Here are some of them: [4]

I read this tiny little book, which, using Fet's words, is "volumes of very heavy ones." It is very difficult to separate “literature” from a terrible creature, this, alas, a typical Soviet fate ...

Yuri Nagibin

Your book is a spiritual barrier on the way to oblivion, to the reassurance of conscience, to forgiveness "for the remoteness of the deed."

Willy Petritsky

You have included documents in the text and found a tone for the text that allows them to be adjacent. Poetry is a way of telling the truth, invisible to the eye, and therefore truth, naked in its terrifying fullness, in itself becomes poetry.

Library of Russian Poetry

From his student years, more than half a century, Viktor Solomonovich collected poetry collections that were published in any corner of our country. He continued the tradition of the literary critic and bibliophile Anatoly Tarasenkov , the creator of the most complete book collection of Russian poetry in the first half of the 20th century. By the number of collected books V. Serbsky far surpassed his predecessor.

In the Russian poetic world, the name of Victor Serbsky is symbolic and familiar to many who have published at least one, at least a small book of poems. Not a single modern Russian poet living even on the edge of the earth has passed his poetic collection. He will print a collection in the printing house, sign an autograph and send it to Bratsk. At one time, books were sent and handed over to him by Korney Chukovsky , Samuel Marshak , Konstantin Simonov , David Samoilov , Pavel Antokolsky , Alexander Kushner , Oleg Chukhontsev , Anatoly Zhigulin , Bulat Okudzhava , Evgeny Evtushenko , Andrey Voznesensky , Bella Akhmadulina , Ilya Fonyakov , Anatoly Kobyakov Sergey Mikhalkov ... The list is huge - about ten thousand poetry collections autographed by Russian poets from around the world are stored in this library! And since 1955, Serbsky has collected about fifty thousand poetry collections of famous and little-known poets. [6]

Vladimir Monakhov, poet

In the library of V.S. Serbian, now numbering more than 50,000 books, there are many unique, rare editions, including books that are not in the main libraries of the country. A significant part of the books has autographs of poets and writers. A special place is occupied by the section devoted to political repressions. There is a Pushkin section, a large collection of miniature publications.

In 1992, a decision was made by the executive committee of the city Council of People’s Deputies of the city of Bratsk to create a municipal library on the basis of V.S. Serbian.

In 2002, Serbsky received two grants - the President of Russia and a Soros grant for the development of the library and the creation of an electronic catalog.

Daughter V.S. Serbsky - Catherine, a physician by profession, received a second higher education, a library, and continues the work of his father.
