Personal life
On February 22, 1945, Clifford married Jenny Pride Nicholson (1919-1964), the eldest daughter of the poet and writer Robert Graves [1] .
Alexander Clifford died in 1952. Buried in Portofino , Italy .
World War II
During the Second World War, Alexander Clifford worked as a war correspondent for the English newspaper Daily Mail . In June 1940, the flying Sunderland boat , on which Clifford flew, jumped onto the coast of Malta [2] .
Alexander Clifford was a friend and colleague of Daily Express correspondent Alan Moorhead . They met in 1938 in the bar of the French town of Saint-Jean-de-Luz - both journalists at that time covered the events of the Civil War in Spain [3] . Moorehead mentioned Clifford many times in his books. Together they went through battles in North Africa, landings in Italy and Normandy. Moorehead's memoirs - βA Late Education: Episodes in a Lifeβ - among other things, depict the story of the friendship of two men.
