Content
History
On January 5, 1939, Pope Pius XI issued the bull Birmaniae Septemtrionalis , which established the Apostolic Prefecture of Bamo, isolating it from the Apostolic Vicariate of Central Burma (today the Mandalay Archdiocese ).
On February 21, 1961, Pope John XXIII issued the Quod sacrum bull, which transformed the apostolic prefecture of Bamo into a diocese. On the same day, the department of the diocese was transferred to the city of Myitkyina and the diocese became known as the diocese of Myitiny.
On August 28, 2006, the Mycechin Diocese transferred part of its territory for the erection of the new Diocese of Bamo .
