Virtual Boy was the 32-bit console of the fifth generation of game consoles, released on July 21, 1995 in Japan and August 14, 1995 in North America [1] . In total, about 770 thousand consoles were sold, after which the sale was curtailed on December 22, 1995 (in Japan, less than six months after the release) and March 2, 1996 in the United States [2] , becoming the largest commercial failure of Nintendo, comparable to the failure of 64DD [ 3] .
Due to the low popularity and short life on the market, only 22 games for Virtual Boy are known [4] , some of them were not finished in the form of a ready-made prototype [5] . Part of the games was a regional exclusive that did not go to the United States or Japan. In Europe, Virtual Boy has never been officially distributed.
