The Church of Simeon Stolpnik or the Simeon Church is a winter temple in Suzdal , located next to the Savior Euthymius Monastery . It was built in 1749 and has a “paired” summer church of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God (1696-1706). Together with the summer Smolensk church and the free-standing bell tower of the late 18th century, it forms an architectural ensemble .

The temple is located on the territory of the former Skucilova Sloboda, where in ancient times carts of five directions were "crowded": Moscow , St. George's , Rostov , Yaroslavl and Shuysky [1] . In the 17th century, the Skuchilov settlement belonged to the Spaso-Euthymius (Spassky) monastery and peasants from the monastery estates , who knew the craft, lived in it.
Like all winter temples of Suzdal, it has a small size, very simple architecture and extremely laconic decor . The low-rise building is located north of the massive Smolensk church; its shape copies the old wooden winter churches. A separate bell tower with a high spire was built at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries and is designed in the style of classicism .
The church was subjected to repeated alterations that distorted its original appearance.
