After leaving school, Cassie moved to New York and got a job at Wilhelmina Models modeling agency, and also studied at the Broadway Dance School. In late 2004, she met with music producer Ryan Leslie , who invited Ventura to work with his NextSelection label.
In 2006, Cassie released her debut single, titled "Me & U", which quickly became a club hit and by the end of the year received the status of "platinum". After that, Leslie agreed with Diddy that their labels would jointly produce the debut album of his protege. The album, called Cassie , was created by mixing pop music with hip hop and rhythm and blues , where elements of traditional Filipino music and one rock composition were added. The album was released on August 8, 2006. 321 thousand copies were sold in the USA, the album took second place in the hit parade of hip-hop and rhythm and blues and fourth place in the overall hit parade [2] .

Meanwhile, Ventura’s second album, announced shortly after the first in 2006, was far from complete. There were rumors that Bad Boys Records , the Diddy label, would refuse further collaboration with the singer, but Diddy himself denied these rumors, saying that Cassie was working in the studio all the time on the new album. However, Cassie’s collaboration with Leslie Ryan ended. The release of the second album of the singer was scheduled for 2012, but never took place [3] .
