There are various approaches to the classification of Internet resources . Differences in approaches are due to the purposes for which the classification is being developed. For example, there may be classifications for technical and software purposes (inaccessible link) , in order to ensure business processes , in order to satisfy thematic requests , classify certain types of Internet resources - sites , etc. Depending on the approach, a set of classification features is selected.
Theoretically, it is possible to combine all existing classifications of Internet resources into one comprehensive classification. However, the practical value of such a global classification will be lower than the value of individual classifications tailored to specific needs.
In libraries, Internet resources are considered mainly as sources of socially significant information (by analogy with printed documents ). Libraries see their task when working with Internet resources in selecting the most valuable resources from the point of view of their users and providing convenient access to them. Organization of work on these tasks is impossible without the classification of Internet resources in the interests of library activities.
