Despite the fact that Le Jingyi won the Olympic Games and World Championships more than once, she never managed to win the Asian Games. In 1994, at the Summer Asian Games in Hiroshima, Le Jingyi set a record for playing 50 meters, but was disqualified for a false start; the Chinese team won the gold medal in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay, but was stripped of it after a test for doping with Lu Bin gave a positive result.
Due to her athletic physique, Le Jingyi, like other Chinese athletes in the mid-1990s, was suspected of using steroids, but unlike others, her doping tests never gave a positive result.
