Biography
Zhu Jianhua was born in 1963 in Shanghai . Since 1973, began to engage in high jump. In 1981, at the Asian Athletics Championships, he took a height of 2 m 30 cm, beating the previous record of the championship by 15 cm at once. 12 cm. At the Asian Championships in 1983 and the Summer Asian Games in 1986, he was again the first, although he did not set records this time.
At the 1983 World Championships, Zhu Jianhua, competing with the best athletes in the world, managed to make it to the 3rd place. On June 11, 1983, he jumped 2 meters 37 cm, setting a new world record, September 22 updated the record, jumping 2 meters 38 cm, and on June 10, 1984, he raised the record even higher, jumping 2 meters 39 cm. This record was broken only in 1985 by Rudolf Povarnitsyn .
At the 1984 Olympics, Zhu Jianhua made his way to 3rd place, becoming the first Chinese athlete in history to win an Olympic medal. He participated in the 1988 Olympics , but was only 20th there.
