The crashed Boeing 737-260 , ET-AJA registration number, was manufactured for Ethiopian Airlines [1] . At the time of the accident, the plane flew off in less than one year [1] .
Disaster circumstances
After taking off from Bahr-Dara airport, a flock of speckled pigeons got into both aircraft engines, as a result of which the engines were damaged and their surge began [1] . One of the engines immediately lost traction, and the crew decided to return to the airport [2] . During landing, the plane caught fire [1] .
There are discrepancies in the assessment of the dead, depending on the source. The number varies from 31 [2] [3] [4] to 35 [1] . The discrepancies are most likely due to the fact that 4 bodies were not identified [4] . All the dead were passengers.
