Career
In the World Cup, Schmidt made her debut in 1982 , then she got into the top twenty at the World Cup stage only once. Schmidt's best achievement in the overall World Cup standings is 27th in the 1981/82 season.
At the 1976 Olympic Games in Innsbruck , she won the bronze medal in the relay and also took 12th place in the 5 km race and 8th place in the 10 km race.
