Biography
Born in the family of a major railway engineer Samuel Sholomovich (Solomonovich) Abelman (1855, Dvinsk - Baku) and Evgenia Osipovny Abelman. Nephew of astronomer Ilya Solomonovich Abelman . In Baku, the family had a huge house with a garden, there were servants. In Baku, Samuel Abelman became the manager of a large oil field.
In 1914-1916 lived in Tsaritsyno, where he was actively engaged in social activities.
In 1916 he moved to the city of Kovrov, Vladimir province.
From March 1917 he was a member of the RSDLP (b) , in May of the same year he was appointed to the post of party chairman in the city of Kovrov . After the revolution - Chairman of the Kovrov Military Revolutionary Committee , from January 1918 - Chairman of the Kovrov Council . In July 1918, he was a delegate from Kovrov at the V All-Russian Congress of Soviets . On the morning of July 7, he was killed in the area of the Pokrovskaya Outpost Square during the events connected with the uprising of the Left SRs. A Social Revolutionary patrol from the Popov detachment confiscated the car in which Abelman was driving and injured Abelman himself, who was trying to resist. After that, the Black Hundreds attacked Abelman, shouting “a Jew, a Jew, beat him!” - and Abelman was killed.
It was originally buried at the Dorogomilovsky Jewish cemetery. Reburied at Novodevichy Cemetery (2nd station, 31 row) [4] .

Memory
Pokrovskaya Square in Moscow was renamed into Abelmanovskaya Square. [2] [3] [5] . From it originates Abelmanovskaya street , the former Kamer-Kollezhsky (Pokrovsky) shaft. One of the central streets of the city of Kovrov, departing to the north of the railway station, also bears the name of Abelman. Also in Kovrov was renamed Paper-Weaving and Spinning Factory Treumova.
