In addition to a variety of designations, the two-stroke engine and front-wheel drive layout are noteworthy in the car. [1] While the Volkswagen Beetle was rapidly dominating the compact car segment, a competing car from Auto Union offered significantly more interior space, especially in the four-door version with an increased base.
DKW 3 = 6 replaced the DKW F89 / Meisterklasse , but Meisterklasse was produced until April 1954. In turn, 3 = 6 was replaced by the more powerful Auto Union 1000 , which began to be produced in 1957.
