Reflux (from Latin de- - prefix expressing separation, elimination, etc. Greek. Φλέγμα - sputum, moisture) - partial condensation of mixtures of various vapors and gases in order to enrich them with low boiling components. Reflux is based on the predominant condensation of high-boiling components during their cooling. Reflux is a type of counterflow fractionated condensation . Reflux is used as an intermediate stage in the separation of gas mixtures, as well as in distillation and rectification processes. Independently reflux is used in the separation of gas mixtures, the components of which vary significantly in condensation temperature.
