Career
In the World Cup, Takalo made her debut in 1982 , at the same time, the only time in her career, she was in the top twenty at the World Cup stage. Takalo's best achievement in the overall World Cup standings is 47th in the 1981/82 season.
At the 1968 Olympic Games in Grenoble, she started in two races, 5 km - 22nd place, 10 km - did not finish.
At the 1972 Olympic Games in Sapporo , she won the silver medal in the relay, in addition, she was 9th in the 5 km race and 5th in the 10 km race.
At the 1976 Olympic Games in Innsbruck , she climbed the podium in all three disciplines of the Olympic program in women's skiing, becoming the champion in the 5 km race and twice becoming the second in the 10 km race and relay.
