Biography

Born in 1921 in a nomad family. After leaving school, he entered the Kalmyk Pedagogical College in Astrakhan in 1939, which he graduated in 1941. He worked as a teacher of the Russian language in the Baga-Chonosovsky aimak.

In 1942 he graduated from the Military Aviation School in Grozny and volunteered for the front. Participated in battles in the North Caucasus .

After the end of World War II, due to the inability to return to his homeland, he moved to Central Asia , where he worked in the public education system in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan . At the same time he graduated from the Semipalatinsk Pedagogical Institute .

After the restoration of the Kalmyk ASSR in 1957, Anatoly Kichikov returned to his homeland, where he became the director of the Kalmyk Pedagogical School in Elista.

In March 1964 he defended his thesis and began working at the Kalmyk Research Institute of Language, Literature and History . In 1966 he was appointed head of the "Dzhangarovedenie" section of this institute.

Until his death in 1998, he worked as a professor at the Department of Kalmyk Literature at Kalmyk State University .

Creativity

The first story of A. Kichkov was the fable "The Fugitive". This fable was published in the Kalmyk newspaper Halmg Unn on May 9, 1957. A. Kichikov published stories and essays in Kalmyk periodicals. He was engaged in literary criticism, publishing articles about contemporary Kalmyk writers in the literary almanac " Teegin Girl ", the newspaper Halmg Unn.

Scientific activity

The Dzhangarology Section of the Kalmyk Research Institute of Language, Literature and History, under the leadership of Anatoly Kichikov, published the text of 25 songs of the Kalmyk epic “ Dzhangar ”. Anatoly Kichikov was engaged in dialectology, lexicography of the Kalmyk language .
